Minister of Finance Economic and Development, Professor Mthuli Ncube recently presented the National Budget for 2021, allocating 10% to Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education.
Amalgamated Rural Teachers Union of Zimbabwe expressed displeasure at the allocation stating that they expected more money for the education sector since it is one of the key areas in need of adequate funding.

“There is need for improvement on infrastructure in rural schools and this 10% is only going to cater for salaries which are already way below what teachers are asking for, the allocated money and it won’t be enough for other needs in the education sector such as text books and standard laboratories”.
“The budget allocated to the Ministry is not enough and it will not change anything and there will be no capital resource. 2020 was affected by COVID-19 hence we are stressing that the 10% is not enough to capacitate the industry” said Munyaradzi Masiyiwa ARTUZ deputy secretary general.
Almagamated Rural Teachers Union expects the government to cut unnecessary expenditures and redirect more funds to important sectors.
