FEMPRIST Takes Awareness On Gender-Based Violence To Former Inmates.
As 16 Days of Activism against Gender Based Violence commence under the theme “Orange the World, Fund, Respect, Prevent, Collect”, Female Prisoners Support Trust has programs lined up for this year’s commemorations to raise awareness on gender-based violence towards former female prisoners as one of the most vulnerable in communities.
“As we commemorate these 16 days we have taken it upon ourselves to gather all former female inmates on 1 December so that they can share and discuss the abuses they are facing after their release from jail” said Beauty Chagadama FEMPRIST Programs Officer.
1 December is also going to be their official launch day in Murehwa of the 16 Days against Gender -Based Violence and World AIDS Day as way of supporting former female inmates who are living with HIV.
They are also urging former female inmates to speak out against gender-based violence be it verbal, physical and sexual.
